Expanded Program to Benefit Food Bank, White Says

December 17, 2025

HARRISBURG – Northeast Philadelphia’s Caring for Friends will benefit from an expansion of the Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) in the recently passed state budget, according to Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia).

Caring for Friends was approved for $212,000 worth of tax credits.

The NAP allows businesses to seek tax credits when they contribute to nonprofit organizations revitalizing communities. The 2025-26 state budget doubled the program’s funding to reach $72 million.

“Caring for Friends serves homebound, homeless and hungry people in our region. It is doing important work to serve the most vulnerable, and I’m thankful we lawmakers were able to recognize its contributions by growing this important program,” White said.

“I'm grateful to see this funding go to an organization that is truly the bedrock of our Northeast community. Thank you to the leadership and volunteers at Caring for Friends for all they do for our community,” said Sen. Joe Picozzi, R-Philadelphia.
